Beginning to Migrate (some) Content to the NEW Doug Alone

Beginning to Migrate (some) Content to the NEW Doug Alone I have had the idea since early on in this blog to possibly move it from this sort of hosted/third-party set-up to something more owned by me. This past week, I started to make this a reality: https://www.dougalone.com There are a lot of reasons behind this but let us start with caveat. I have exactly one real complaint about Blogger/Blogger and otherwise most of the decisions are about my creative process itself.  The One Real Complaint The newer Blogger themes tend to be plenty responsive as they are but there is still some degree of back-end handling that tries to serve up a "mobile-friendly" version of the page [note, this is based on looking into the errors and messages sent, I could be wrong]. This is the exact same page but Google, itself, treats this as a website trying to share multiple copies of the same content and basically passes this off as a reason to not index the site.  After over a year of havin...

Gamebook News: New Fighting Fantasy Has Been Announced, The Dungeon on Blood Island

I missed this back when it was announced in March (and it's not like I had this blog to even post it had I found it) BUT there will be a new official Fighting Fantasy gamebook released this September: The Dungeon of Blood Island

In sheer terms of keeping my love of solo play alive over the years, absolutely nothing else compares to the Fighting Fantasy series. In most ways, my attempts to expand my solo play library grew out of just wanting to do more things like FF and to have FF-like experiences with a bit more freedom. It was not the only source but it was a major source.

Sure, I will always hold The Island of the Lizard King but Deathtrap Dungeon is iconic (and who doesn't love the adorable bloodbeast on the cover?).

Ian Livingston will be doing the writing with Iain McCaig doing the cover art.

In related news, Tin Man Games is expanding their Fighting Fantasy Classics line with Armies of Death. This means you can have the entire (up until Blood Island comes out) series of Deathtrap-related books. Toss in the audio drama dive into the Deathtrap Dungeon ("The Last Champion") and you have a 2024 celebration ready to go!
