Solo Advice & Musings
Over time I do post some of my personal advice, tips, and ideas for how to better play solo games (which is usually me talking to myself about ways I can better enjoy solo games). This collects those posts around a few themes.
The caveat that this is my personal playstyle being reflected is so obvious that it barely needs to be spoken, except for one corollary: I believe that we find our own balance with solo play but sometimes it helps to see other people's paths (both for information and for entertainment).
General Advice
Getting Started with Mythic
A series specific to playing with my favorite gamemaster emulator: Tana Pigeon's Mythic.
- Getting Started with Mythic, Part 1 - Someone Walks into a Bar
- Getting Started with Mythic, Part 1.5 - The Seven Steps in a More Visual Format + Gameplay Loop
Reconsidering Fairness in Solo RPGS
The idea here is to focus on how "fair" changes its meaning with solo roleplaying.
Solo Musings
Less precise advice and more just contemplating solo play and roleplaying games more general. Often comes up as I need to figure out how to handle something (or, maybe, how to handle something differently than I previously have been).
Steal this Rule
In this series, I occasionally post rules or ideas intended for a specific system in a way that can be used for other systems (with a broad focus on solo play mechanics).
- Steal This Rule #1: "Death is primarily a narrative conceit" (from Tricube Tales)
